The live basemap preview is not part of the plan drawing itself. If you need map imagery to appear in printed or exported output, import aerial photos as plan objects.

Formats like JPG, PNG are what's called raster images, or bitmaps, which means they're fixed sets of pixels. It's not possible to scale them without losing quality. To see quality improve, set the option in Tools->Preferences->Application->Image Options->Exported image resolution to produce images up to 8 times larger than the normal size. With this option set, the plan will be enlarged and then exported to an image, making the image larger and more suitable for printing.

RapidPlan can connect directly to ArcGIS Feature Services via the Import Spatial Data tool. This allows accessing transportation, road, traffic, and infrastructure datasets published on ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Hub portals, as well as servers hosted by many government agencies and public organizations publish.

We won't get into detail with this tool since it is simply a way to import image files to your RapidPlan drawing. Once you select the Image tool from the Tools palette, you will be presented with a typical Open box where you can search your computer for image files you want to import.

Georeferenced aerial imagery is, as the name suggests, paired with data that indicates exactly where the imagery is located. These are stored in compressed zip files, and when imported will be placed in the correct location in a RapidPlan plan automatically.

Importing roads onto integrated mapping creates a road object with properties that can be manipulated.

You can paste rich text or tables from applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and Google Sheets into the RapidPlan Online or RapidPath Online editor. Supported formatting includes bold, italic, and underlined text.

RapidPlan 4.4 replaced the older separate KML, Shapefile, and CAD import workflows with a unified Spatial Data Import tool.

You can upload the plan from your computer to your online storage. This may come useful when someone shares the RapidPlan Online .tcp plan with you by other means than through the Invarion Cloud, for example as an attachment to an email.
