Reduce a layer's opacity to compare or align its objects with objects on another layer.

The Layers tab can be found on the right side of the application, along with the Properties tab. If it's not there, go to the View tab and check the box for the Layers list option.

While it is named the Layers palette in light of its core and original use case, the Layers palette has now expanded in function to include 3 sub-menus:

Users who master using layers will find themselves considerably more productive than those who do not. As described earlier, the main (but not sole) advantage offered by layers is the ability to produce multiple plans on the same road base map, but more experienced users will figure out more productive ways to utilize layer functionality.

There will be occasions where you want to move an object (or group of objects) between different layers. There are two ways to do this - using the Send to Layer function or simply with copy and paste.

Objects in the same layer are drawn in an order, often called their z-order. Changing that order lets you place one object in front of or behind another object on the same layer.

Several phases of works at one location can now be included in a single traffic plan, using the Plan Stages feature.

Reduce the basemap's opacity in the Layers palette to make plan objects stand out more clearly.

In the Basemap section of the Layers palette, adjust Bearing to rotate the basemap.

To switch layers quickly, right-click an object and select Select Object From Layer.
